Internet Addiction
Internet addiction is becoming a serious threat among a new generation of web surfers, mostly youth.
An Australian Research Council study in 2007 showed nearly 75 per cent of those surveyed used the internet; and this figure rose to 95 per cent in the 18 to 24 year old age group. Internet users were surfing the web at home for an average of nine hours a week; followed by more than five hours a week at work. Three-quarters checked their email at least once a day; one quarter posted on message boards and one in five used instant messaging daily.

Diagnosing oneself:
-
Do you spend more than 8 hours (and sleep less than 3 hours) per day on the net?

-
Do you use email as your best means of communication with friends, relatives, community, etc.. ?

-
Do you use social tools of Internet so much that you are nearly out of touch with real world?

-
Do you have more cyber friends than real friends?

-
Do you have accounts at facebook, hi5, twitter, MSN, orkut, friendster, skype, and other social networks?
-
Have you unintentionally skipped important meals lately by not being able to quit an online session?

-
Has your snacks bill increased lately?

-
Have you met at least 40% of your address book?
-
Do you check your mailbox more than once a day?

-
My favorite: are you getting weird looks at home, or people started calling you by weird names?

Answer 5 of the above questions (which I’m sure you will), and voila, you officially have an Internet Addiction Disorder buddy.
Here is the complete test to Internet Addiction.
The last part, “basically”, should be about ways to cure that disorder. Well, one thing to do: shut down your computer and get the hell out with your friends.
